JEFFERSON COUNTY INTERNSHIP CONSORTIUM IN PUBLIC HEALTH

Mental Health/Psychology Internships: Jefferson County Internship Consortium (JCIC) is a full-time psychology doctoral internship that offers doctoral interns a unique blend of experiences and trainings to support preparing future psychologists for public health sector. Our consortium consists of several agencies including Seven Counties Services (Community Mental Health Center), Bellewood & Brooklawn (Adolescent Residential Facility), Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, and Central State Hospital (Adult State Hospital). The JCIC internship is a generalist program designed to prepare interns for licensed professional practice, with the particular focus on public-sector mental health services and collaborative consultation with other health service providers and community agencies.

LOUISVILLE VA MEDICAL CENTER

VA Louisville health care provides training programs for students at the college, university, and postgraduate levels. The facility, known as The Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), provides specialized hospital-based care as well as outpatient care to more than 150,000 Veterans residing in central and western Kentucky and in southern Indiana. In addition to our medical center at the main campus, we offer a number of services to our patients in eight outpatient healthcare centers located in the Kentuckiana area. Internship programs include:

– Pharmacy Residency Program: The VA offers the largest pharmacy residency program in the country, and the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program is offered at The Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) located in Louisville, KY. This program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and also offers the opportunity for residents interact with other residents across the Commonwealth of Kentucky by participating in the Kentucky Pharmacy Residency Network (KPRN).

– Psychology Training Internship Program: This full-time predoctoral internship focuses on breadth of clinical skills, while highlighting comprehensive mental health care. In addition to participation in outpatient general mental health, interns choose among major and minor rotations from many specialized programs.

NORTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Norton Children’s Child Life Therapy Internship: This specialized program is for those interested in a career in child life therapy, which is a career for specially trained professionals who help children and their families understand and manage challenging life events and stressful health care experiences. Child life therapists at Norton Children’s Hospital, Norton Children’s Medical Center and Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital offer a maximum 640-hour child life internship experience. Internships begin in January and August, and accept up to two candidates at a time. All interns complete two rotations at Norton Children’s Hospital, and the remaining rotation at either Norton Children’s Medical Center or Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

KENTUCKY FARM BUREAU

Communications Internships: Kentucky Farm Bureau offers paid internship programs with flexible scheduling. Opportunities span all levels and majors, including disciplines focused on accounting and finance, communications, human resources, and IT — just to name a few. KFB invests in their interns by having a bi-weekly roundtable with leadership members at KFB, along with an intern breakfast to kick off the summer. Louisville Public Media offers internships to college students throughout the year focusing on various aspects of journalism, media and public relations. Internships at Louisville Public Media are paid. Credit is available to students in an established internship program through his/her school.

LOUISVILLE VISUAL ART

The Louisville Visual Art Internship Program welcomes college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who wish to supplement their education and professional experience by working in a not-for-profit art organization. LVA internships offer experiential education in a challenging, hands-on environment in exchange for a substantive contribution from gifted and interested individuals. Internships are offered in the following areas: Education & Community Arts; Graphic Design; Communication; LVA Media and the LVA Mural Art Program.

WDRB News/Digital Broadcast Internship: WDRB News has openings for interns who are passionate about pursuing a career in digital or broadcast news. Applicants must be current college students who can complete internships for school credit. Interns are heavily involved in all aspects of our newsroom operations, from learning to write stories for newscasts and WDRB.com to running teleprompter and shooting and editing stories.

WORLD TRADE CENTER OF KENTUCKY

– Event Planning/Marketing Internship: The World Trade Center of Kentucky (WTC-KY) Event Planning/Marketing Internship provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the details of event planning from educational programs to Galas. LXC SPORTS

LXC Sport & Social Club: LXC brings together adults through various sport and fitness leagues, social events, and weekend trips. With 15 sport and fitness activities offered to our 10,000 plus members, LXC combines social and active living to produce the best events in town. Interns are expected to provide support for each department of the company such as sales, sports management, event coordination and marketing. Interns are required to assist in day-to-day sport and fitness league tasks and coordinating logistics for specific leagues.

SPORTS ADMINISTRATION (UofL)

The University of Louisville offers internships in sports administration in all capacities! From the NBA to the NCAA, our network is strong. More than 400 employers of UofL SPAD graduates across the world, and dozens of local Louisville industry professionals, find current students and help them catapult their careers with impactful internship experience. Both paid and unpaid internships are available, and approximately 50 students work in an internship for academic credit each semester. In addition, dozens more students are volunteering in a variety of sport industry positions in and around Louisville. The internship for academic credit is a culminating experience for our students and our industry partners know and expect our students to make valuable contributions to the field while gaining critical industry experience.
